Legal status of the website

Dijaspora is an information project for the Serbian diaspora in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The content published on the portal is general information and orientation. It does not constitute legal, tax, financial, medical or migration advice.

For specific legal, tax or financial decisions, consult a licensed attorney (Rechtsanwalt), tax advisor (Steuerberater) or the relevant authority.

Information is reviewed regularly, but laws change. Dijaspora is not liable for decisions made solely on the basis of content from this site.

Affiliate links (disclosure)

Some links to external services on Dijaspora are affiliate links. This means: if you click such a link and open an account or buy a service, the partner may pay us a commission.

The price or terms for you do not change — the commission comes from the partner's marketing budget, not from your account.

Commissions help us keep Dijaspora free, banner-free and free from selling user data to ad networks.

All affiliate links are clearly marked on the recommended partners page, and a summary disclosure is shown before every recommendation list.

In line with § 5a UWG (Germany) and corresponding rules in Austria and Switzerland, we openly disclose the commercial nature of these links here.

Methodology — how we choose partners

A partner is added to the list only if it passes the following criteria, in this order of priority:

Quality of service comes first
The service must have a proven good reputation among diaspora users — verified through public reviews, forums and, where possible, first-hand experience.

Price and transparency — second
No hidden fees, a clear fee structure and options for users on a small budget (free plan or low monthly fee).

Serbian/English support — third
The service must offer support in Serbian, English, or at least well-localised German — because many newcomers do not yet speak fluent German.

Affiliate program — last
Commission is not a reason for inclusion. We also recommend partners who pay no commission — those links we do not call affiliate.

A partner can be removed from the list if we receive multiple substantiated complaints, prices are raised without notice, or Serbian/English support is discontinued.

Privacy (GDPR)

What we collect

Dijaspora is a static website. We do not store personal data on the server and we do not run user accounts. For audience measurement we use only Cloudflare Web Analytics — a cookieless tool with no cross-site tracking (details below).

We use only one technical cookie: NEXT_LOCALE, which remembers the chosen language (sr/de/en). It is a first-party cookie set by the site itself, contains no personal data, and is exempt from GDPR consent requirements because it is strictly necessary for site operation (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in language adaptation).

Third-party services

If you click an affiliate link, the partner may set its own cookie or tracking parameter — that is governed by that partner's privacy policy, not ours. Our list of partners is here: Recommended partners.

Visitor analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics — a cookieless audience-measurement tool. Only aggregated metrics are collected (page views, country, browser/OS), with no personal data and no cross-site tracking. Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR — legitimate interest in understanding site usage. No consent is required because no cookies are set and no personal identifiers are stored. We respect your browser's Do-Not-Track signal — if it is enabled, the script is not loaded at all.

Server logs

Our hosting provider may keep standard logs (IP address, request time, User-Agent) for technical and security reasons (attack protection). Logs are not used for profiling and are deleted automatically after a short period.

Your rights (GDPR Art. 15–22)

You have the right to request access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, and data portability, as well as to object to processing. Since we currently do not store personal data about you, such requests usually relate to server logs.
